The Lure Of Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is a treatment that offers a complete body makeover. It is done to correct early aging signs and face marks. The treatment brings about a positive change in the behavior and personality of the patient. After the treatment there is an improvement in attitude, physical appearance and self-esteem. A successful surgery shows positive results. It changes the patient’s physical appearance and the quality of life.

Patients develop a sense of confidence once they recover from the effects of the surgery. They look more beautiful and attractive and this brings about a change in attitude.  These reasons have inspired many individuals to go in for cosmetic surgery.

Most people choose the Abdominoplasty procedure also known as the tummy tuck. The treatment removes extra skin and fat around the abdomen and thighs. The surgery may  lead to infection and side effects. These side effects are not abnormal and can be  treated under the surgeon’s  supervision.

The second cosmetic surgery procedure is the face-lift or meloplasty. In this surgery, extra skin is removed from the ear and placed at the right position. After the surgery, the patient may develop rashes, bruises or swelling.

The third procedure is breast enlargement or augmentation mammoplasty.  In this surgery, the size of breast can be changed according to individual preference. This is done by using saline filled inflatable implants.

The fourth treatment is called chemical peel. It is applied on the skin. It corrects blemished or sunburnt facial skin. During the process a solution is wiped over the face to make it clear. The solution also helps to remove deep-seated wrinkles. The possible side effects of this procedure are infection and scarring.

Nose surgery or rhinoplasty is the fifth type of  surgical procedure. This procedure is carried out by making incisions in the nostrils and reshaping the nose by removing bone and cartilage. This procedure takes about two hours and may lead to  bruises and swollen nose.

Breast lift or mastopexy is the sixth type of treatment. It is carried out to lift sagging breasts. The surgery restructures and reduces extra skin by relocating breast tissue and nipples.

Liposuction is  the last and the most common of cosmetic surgeries. It is done to remove excess fat from thighs, abdomen, buttocks and arms. This procedure is carried out by  inserting a thin tube called a cannula through an opening into the skin. Excess fat is then sucked out using a suction pump. Some of the complications of this operation are bruising and swelling.

For all the above treatments the surgeon must be skilled and well qualified.
